Brand Idea #1
New Look:
New Looks use of simplistic studio shots in there ad campaigns is what initially made me think of their brand, as this is the type of background in my final images.
New Look often use celebrity endorsement in their advertisements. I have shown an example of Alexa Chung an here are some of Kimberley Walsh an Taylor Momsen. Taylor Momsen has taken over the girls aloud singer as the new face of new look and has a much more rock and roll look and attitude. She is also younger than Kimberley Walsh and Alexa Chung suggesting new look may be trying to advertise to the younger end of their target market.
These final images are more interesting and edgier ads by New Look, which will give me more to work on in photoshop.
I think I could make my images fit in quite well with the New Look brand- however I feel like I need a more wacky and interesting brand for my images. I think the minnie mouse ears will just look out of place in a New Look ad whereas I think there are brands that can carry them off without any need for an explaination.
Brand Idea #2
This isn't so much as an "idea" for what brand I will be using but I found this advert from ASOS which has used the minnie style ears:
They look really good as an advert an this has given me the confidence to definately use the ears in my final adverts. I will mix it up an not use them for every image but I definately will have them somewhere!
I will not be using Asos as my brand as although they do do some outdoor advertising- they do not do much as they are based online an therefore have alot more online advertising and more paper based adverts such as there own magazine.
Brand Idea #3
M.A.C Makeup
I thought some of the more close up images in my shoot would perhaps look good for makeup/cosmetic advertisements. These ads for M.A.C are so bright and colourful and I think they really go with the funness of my photoshoots images. Even though my images have a plain white background and these adverts are packed with colour and have no space for a white background- the plainness of my background would make it very simple to add colour / s to it! I could even recreate the look in the second from bottom image with the stripes of different coloured makeup which I think would look quite effective!
However, the problem I feel with this brand is that the makeup itself- the eyelashes and the colours are all very extreme and quite artisitc. ( I really love the image with the feather eyelashes and paint splattered effect on the models face.) Although the style of makeup in our shoot was not subtle- I do not feel it is extreme enough to be able to pull off the M.A.C look successfully.
I that this has inspired me to explore colour and it is a reminder of how experimental I should be when creating my adverts!
Brand Idea #4
H&M
H&M is wthout a doubt a fashion focused brand- despite their retail value. They often have celebrity collaborations which have included Stella Mc, Matthew Williamson, Roberto Cavalli and Jimmy Choo to name but a few. They have also had their fair share of celebrity endorsement, using the likes of Rihannah and numerous famous supermodels including- Raquel Zimmermann, and Gemma Ward.
I think my images could suit a H&M style as they are playful, and there are some good examples of studio shots they have used in advertising. However, they also tend to do quite a few location shots which is something that I will have to take into consideration, which may mean that this is not the right brand for me?? It is definately in the lead however as I think it is the most suitable brand I have looked at so far.
