These images where taken whilst I was still in Preston and on my way to the train station. The three adshels above where taken in the actual train station itself.
As you come out of Lime Street station- you are greeted with a huge welcome model with a digital billboard screen that has various advertisements on it. I got some images of the different ones:
The Lynx "Fallen Angel" advert actually had the girls moving towards the screen and give the appearance they were trying to get out. I thought this looked really good and it has inspired me to think of more ideas that could include motion in them- and possibly not just a flat image. I could easily acheive this by just creating different stages of the advert and explaining in my final presentation-how it would look and work.
I got a few more snaps of buses and adverts on them. However, i think the images of the buses in preston will be more useful as I am more keen to attempt to use an advert on a double decker rather than just a single decked bus.
Flagpoles outside St Johns shopping centre
Advertisement in the store window of Boots- St Johns Shopping Centre
Telephone box advertisements- city centre. I have not yet looked at this form of promotion and although phone boxes are not as common or as needed as they used to be- they are still quite a good form of outdoor advertising as the ones above for example are all in busy areas and the adverts are being seen by lots of people. I would have to make sure my advert was suitable as a portrait image for this kind of promotion as landscape would not work at all- for obvious reasons!
The big TV screen- St Johns shopping centre. This was unfortunately off the day I came to get my images but it often has t.v advertisements on whilst people go about there daily lives.
Topshop- Keys Court. The advertisement for Topshop makeup was actually in there store window. However, does that make it a kind of above the line promotion as they are not paying to put it there as it is their store window? The heart I took a picture of as I just liked them. However, I could photoshop on of my adverts onto the heart shape to create something a little different.
Williamson Square- adshels and banners.
One of the things Paz showed us last week was how to use photoshop to superimpose our adverts onto a taxi. I therefore went to a Taxi rank near Williamson Square and the Metquarter to try an get a decent image of one. I took a couple of silver and black ones as there where plenty of them there- however, what I really needed was a white one which will work better on photoshop and won't cause my image to become to dark when its on the taxi. I managed to snap one as it was driving past and I also got one with an advert on it. i think if I do decide to do a taxi advertisement, I will wrap my image around the entire taxi rather than just having a strip of an advert on the car doors.
Adshels- Church Street. The cylindrical adshel above is a digital one and has adverts scroll around it. However, this too was unfortunately not on when I was taking my pictures.
I will be keeping my an eye out for more forms of outdoor promotion but I think I have enough decent images that I can work with in Photoshop to create my three adverts. Now I need to concentrate on a brand and research it as much as possible.
